Transatlantic Connections - Nordic Migration to the New World after 1800

Two and a half million people from the Nordic countries migrated to the New world during the period of transatlantic emigration from 1825-1930. This book summarizes and synthesizes the history of emigration from these countries to Australia, Latin America, and especially North America. The authors delineate the background, composition and character of this mass phenomenon, and analyse its effects on the old countries, and the role of Nordic immigrants in forming American society.
